Rainbow safe space

The World Health Organization removed homosexuality from the list of diseases in 1990. Since then, the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) has been celebrated on May 17 every year. You can get a Rainbow Ribbon from our volunteers on the streets of Prague on Friday, May 17, as a symbol of the LGBTQ+ human rights movement. Or you can order your ribbon online, starting on April 15. The more rainbows in public spaces, the safer LGBTQ+ people will feel.

Why wear the Rainbow Ribbon?

LGBTQ+ people still do not have an equal status in Czech society. Fearing harassment, assault and threats, 44% of them hide their orientation in public spaces, 42% on public transport and 28% even from their families at home (research report Being LGBTQ+ in the Czech Republic 2022, available in Czech). This is why it is extremely important for them to see acceptance and publicly declared support from others. A Rainbow Ribbon pinned on your lapel expresses exactly that. 

What am I donating to?

All donations from the rainbow ribbons will support the work of Prague Pride and its activities that have a real impact on the lives of queer people in our country. This includes the support services of sbarvouven.cz and the LGBT+ Community Centre, advocacy for justice and equal rights for LGBTQ+ people and their families through the initiative We Are Fair, training for educators within the project ucimolgbt.cz, support for rainbow families, and the largest cultural and human rights event for queer people in the Czech Republic – the Prague Pride Festival.

How much will I pay

The minimum donation for the Rainbow Ribbon is 100 CZK.
However, this will only cover its production costs and the organization of the campaign. 
This is why the recommended donation is 200 CZK. 
This amount will already meaningfully support the activities of Prague Pride.
There is no maximum to the donation you choose to pay. We will be very grateful for your generous contributions; they will help us kick-start and sustain activities without which the world would be a difficult place for many LGBTQ+ people to navigate.

Become a Rainbow Ribbon partner and supply the Rainbow Ribbon to your employees as part of your DEI activities.

Commemorate the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) with the people in your company in a non-traditional way. In the morning, welcome them at their workplace with a Rainbow Ribbon to wear!

To businesses, we offer priority purchase of Rainbow Ribbons so that they can make them available to their teams on May 17 and publicly express their commitment to social responsibility and corporate culture built on diversity, equality and inclusion.

We will be happy to prepare an individualised offer corresponding to the size of the organization, the method of distribution of the ribbon (envelope with a message), and if required, the range of follow-up activities that we are able to organize for the corporate environment in connection with IDAHOBIT and June as Pride Month. We can also help with the preparation of internal communications about IDAHOBIT and social media posts.
